Journeys Festival International Portsmouth present the award-winning Aakash Odedra Company’s JeSuis (In Progress) at the New Theatre Royal, from 7:30pm on Saturday 21st October.
Winner of the Amnesty International UK Freedom of Expression Award at Edinburgh Festival Fringe, #JeSuis is a critical contemporary dance that explores personal stories of conflict, media manipulation, displacement, and identity. It explores what makes “home’ home when millions are on the move.
The performance of #JeSuis (In Progress) will be followed by ‘Journeys: The Art of Displacement’, with Aakash Odedra Company and Journeys Festival International sharing the inspiration for their work, including artistic contributions from European partners. Audiences will be invited to respond to and debate issues of displacement and the meaning of ‘home’.
Tickets are £17.50 with £15.00 concessions, and can be booked via the New Theatre Royal website.
There are free tickets available for members of the Refugee and Asylum Seeker community. Email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
This performance is recommended for those aged 13 years and up, and has a running time of two hours.
