The Bridge Tavern
An inviting Grade II-listed quayside pub, The Bridge Tavern sits on the Camber Dock in Old Portsmouth, with a large open interior and separate drinking areas.
It’s a traditional country pub with a friendly atmosphere, good food, and a fine selection of drinks, including Fuller’s classics like London Pride and Seafarers on cask, and a brilliant range of other beers, spirits, ciders, and wines.
The furnishing is beautifully traditional and invitingly familiar, and is speckled with nautical references to Old Portsmouth’s maritime history, such as walls laden with prints depicting seascapes and ships. A commemorative plaque on the chimney breast nods to the memory of the crew of Portsmouth trawler Wilhelmina J., who went down with the ship when she sank in 1991.
An upstairs area features more seating, with a conservatory section offering views across the Camber Dock towards Gunwharf Quays in one direction and Portsmouth Cathedral in the other. There’s also bench seating outside — perfect for warmer days — right beside the harbour.
Adorning the side of The Bridge Tavern is a large mural depicting a period scene from Old Portsmouth, comprising old buildings, ships, boozy sailors, and prostitutes.
