Team Locals to be digital media partner for America’s Cup

At Team Locals Portsmouth, we’re tremendously excited to be an official digital media partner for the Louis Vuitton America’s Cup World Series events taking place in our city this summer.

From the first public consultation through to the America’s Cup World Series itself, we’ve been with Sir Ben Ainslie every step of the way, documenting the launch of the Ben Ainslie Racing headquarters in Old Portsmouth, the announcement of Land Rover as a partner, and the first four-day America’s Cup World Series event on Southsea seafront in July 2015.

To now be officially partnered with the prestigious racing event, and everything it brings to Portsmouth, is a huge honour.

In 2014 and 2015, our small team worked around the clock to cover every aspect of the America’s Cup World Series, writing detailed guides, producing instructional and documentary videos, and recording the racing action through photography.

We’ll once again be covering the exciting event this year, with live updates across our social media streams (FacebookTwitter, and Instagram), comprehensive articles here on our website, and videos on our YouTube channel.

ACWS 2016 takes place from Thursday 21st July to Sunday 24th July. There will be a redesigned layout, with the paid-for Race Village (dubbed the ‘Fanzone’ last summer) focused around Castle Field, Southsea Bandstand, and Southsea Skatepark, whilst the rest of Southsea Common remains open and unticketed.

The racing action itself has also been simplified, and will unfold within a smaller area, with a route that never strays so far away from the shoreline that the racing will be hard to see.

The public show is set to start on shore and on water from Friday 22nd July and will run through to Sunday 24th July. Adult Race Village ticket prices start from £25.00 per day, whilst tickets for under-16s are half-price, and under-5s get in free.
