Portsmouth College’s Principal Steve Frampton has been awarded an MBE for more than 35 years of dedication to post-16 further education.
Steve Frampton MBE said: “I am extremely proud and accept this award on behalf of my past and present students, and my brilliant staff and governors. They have all been an amazing team to work with and I am thankful that we can share this amazing recognition. I am proud to be their Principal.
“It is a truly great honour for myself and our city but especially for Portsmouth College, recognizing the exciting and very innovative journey we are on, benefitting the young people in our wonderful city.
“I am deeply thankful to all those that have supported me in my career, including my family and my brilliant staff, students, and governors, but also all of the incredible local, national, and international partners and leaders I have and do work with in the education and voluntary sector both within our city and beyond.
“I would like to personally thank the very creative and generous Lewis, whose sense of fun, energy, focus, and humour have been powerfully inspirational — it has been an amazing 2016/17.
“I would also like to thank all my colleagues from previous posts, including St. Vincent College, Peter Symonds College, and Price’s College, as well as the Association of Colleges (AoC). Many have helped me develop values, learn the skills essential for success, and how I can best serve my community to make a difference.
“I have been totally overwhelmed by the kindness, generosity, and testimonials that I have received from all over the world and would like to thank everyone who has contacted me for all these wonderful and touching messages. I have always said I have the best job in Portsmouth, but now I am beginning to believe it is in fact the best job in the country.
“I would like to wish everyone a very happy, fun, and amazing 2017, full of smiles, laughter, enjoyment, success, and very good health.”
Nick Wynne, Chair of Governors at Portsmouth College, said: “It gives me great pleasure to announce that Steve is included in this year’s New Year’s Honours list.
“He has been awarded an MBE for 35 years of service to post-16 education, in many roles and colleges, and at all levels, but especially for city wide and national work as Principal of our amazing college. Steve deserves this recognition for his tireless commitment in improving the education and expectations of our students at Portsmouth College.”
Simon Barrable, Deputy Principal and long-time friend of Steve said: “Everyone at the College is over the moon about this. We are all extremely proud of Steve and all he has achieved and are sure that all who know him will feel the same.
“Steve himself would like to pass on his sincere thanks to all the many people who have passed on their congratulations and best wishes, for which he is extremely humbled and grateful.”
