Pompey's Automatic Promotion Hopes Scuppered By Peterborough United.

Pompey’s hopes of finishing the season in one of the two automatic promotion spots was snuffed out on Tuesday evening during an exciting matchup with play-off chasing Peterborough United.

It was a rip-roaring game under the Fratton Park lights that saw both teams battling hard throughout for glory. In the end a costly off-side mistake by Pitman and Solomon-Otabor seems to have been the turning point in the match. Peterborough capitalised on the mistake to later take the lead in the match and hold out to end the blues’ hopes of automatic promotion.

Pompey will now be heading for Wembley for the second time this season in an effort to gain promotion through the play-off process.
